MOULD MAKING

At West 1 Castings we offer two types of moulding; HOT VULCANISED RUBBER MOULD and COLD-CURE MOULDS.

VULCANISED RUBBER MOULDS

Making vulcanised rubber moulds involves heat and pressure. It is perfectly suited for reproducing items such as finished jewellery or metal master models. We do not recommend that method for any delicate items that could easily get damage in the process, instead we advise the use of cold-cure method.

On our standard vulcanised rubber moulds there is an approximate shrinkage rate of 2%.

Production moulds have a starting price of £20.00 + VAT. All mould prices increase according to the size of mould and complexity of the piece.

Masters without a sprue will have an additional spruing cost of £8.00 + VAT.

COLD-CURE MOULDS

Cold-cure moulds are perfect for reproducing delicate items such as hand carved or CAD waxes and resins. This process is also preferred if you require a reproduction with less shrinkage than can occur in a hot mould.

On our cold cure there is an approximate shrinkage rate of 0.5%

Cold cure moulds have a starting price of £50.00 + VAT. All mould prices increase according to the size of the mould and complexity of the piece.

Masters without a sprue will have an additional spruing cost of £8.00 + VAT.
